Looking To Renovate?
Which home renovations really pay off? When it comes to renovating your home, not all upgrades are the same. Some can be an investment while others are just a splurge. When done right, updating or upgrading kitchens or bathrooms gets the most bang for your buck, about 85%! Upgrading windows and siding can also get you more money when the time to sell comes. Adding a home office, sun room, master suite or extra space in the garage will not really make money so be cautious when spending money on these things to help get your house sold.
“The rule of thumb is you get back about half of what you put into a pool on resale,” said Brent Farrell from Recraft Constructions. If you can find a few thousand dollars, pay someone to add crown molding or get a professional paint job. “Those little touches — you are not going to be able to ask more for them, but it will make you more marketable,” said Farrell. Location also makes all the difference. Get to know your neighbors or at least their homes. Before you remodel you will need to know what’s expected from a house in your neighborhood.
