Save Energy Now
CenterPoint Energy’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program can help you save money while making your home more comfortable and energy-efficient year-round. And now saving money is even easier, as CenterPoint Energy is offering rebates up to $3,000 for energy-efficient home improvements.
Leaky windows or ducts, old appliances or inefficient cooling systems could be wasting your home’s energy and costing you money. Rather than focusing on these individual components, the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program takes a whole-house approach, combining improvements to maximize your home’s efficiency and performance.
How it works
With CenterPoint Energy’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program, you can earn up to $3,000 in rebates on upgrades that improve your home’s energy efficiency. Follow the steps below, and then contact a participating contractor to get started.
Step 1. Find a participating contractor
Knowing what improvements to make in a home and how they can work together requires special expertise. Home Energy Consultants will use advanced diagnostic tools to evaluate your home’s energy usage and suggest appropriate upgrades. Visit www.energysavinginthehome.com to get your home audit started.
Step 2. Complete a home energy assessment
A comprehensive Home Energy Assessment will provide you with valuable information regarding the condition of your home and help you identify potential improvements. The assessment typically takes 2–4 hours and includes a consultation and inspection of your home using diagnostic equipment. Participating contractors may charge a fee for the Home Energy Assessment; prices will vary by contractor.
Step 3. Review findings and recommendations
Using energy analysis software to combine the results of the consultation and inspection, your contractor will prepare a detailed report that includes recommended improvements, along with costs, rebates, expected utility savings and other benefits, including health and comfort improvements and increased home value.
Step 4. Complete a home performance contract
You and your contractor can review eligibility and incentive information to help you decide which improvements would be optimal for your home. When you have decided on the improvements you want to install, your contractor will present you with a written contract to review and sign.
Step 5. Install energy efficiency improvements
Your contractor may have to visit your home on multiple days to complete your improvements. After the installation, your contractor will complete a final test out to ensure that all work was completed properly.
Step 6. Assess work quality
Once work on your home is complete and all paperwork is accepted, the program will send you a Certificate of Completion officially documenting the energy efficiency improvements that were made to your home.
Step 7: Enjoy the benefits
You’re all set! Sit back, relax and enjoy all the benefits of a whole-house approach to energy-efficient home improvements with CenterPoint Energy’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program.
